Braddock Borough

 

The borough of Braddock is 10 miles upstream from the mouth of the Monongahela River. It’s an eastern suburb of Pittsburgh, located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Named for General Edward Braddock, (1695 – 1755) British officer and commander-in- chief, for 13 colonies during the actions at the start of the French and Indian War (1754 – 1765). He lost his life in 1755 during the disastrous expedition against French occupied Ohio River Valley. On June 8, 1867, the borough became incorporated, in honor of Braddock.
 

Andrew Carnegie made a home in Braddock for one of his 1689, public libraries in the US. Braddock is filled with history. It has approximately 4000 residents. It is slightly more than one-half square mile in area.
